Renewable Energy Sources & Hydro Power
Engineering Department was founded in 1921 at Petrograd
Polytechnical Institute by prof.A.Morozov. Many graduates of the
Department has become famous builders, engineers, scientists, has brought
a fame to the home power engineering.
Studying at the Department
students receive degrees in the following subjects:
- 1003 - Hydraulic Power Engineering
- 1009 - Nontraditional and Renewable Energy Sources
The style
of scientific and educational activity of the Department is centered on
individual work with the students and on trainning of the experts capable
to be engaged in designing, construction and operation of power objects of
various type and structure, to carry out scientific researches on major
and urgent directions of modern power engineering connected to the use of
renewable energy sources such as rivers, wind, sun, tides, geothermal
sources, biomass. Their wide application is based on the development of
new principles and technologies of energy transformation, use of
perspective materials, research and designing of installations for
hydraulic, wind, solar and bioenergy transformation. For solving this
tasks students are offered the following specializations:
- economics and marketing of renewable energy sources;
- renewable energy sources and enviromental protection;
- managment and exploitation of power objects;
- physical and mathematical modelling of powermountings which use
renewable energy sources;
- design, construction, reconstruction and restoration of hydro power
and aquacultural objects;
- power and water supplying of individual consumers.
The
international cooperation with universities of Germany, Austria, Finland,
Denmark in the field of ecology and power engineering enables the students
to have practical trainning abroad.
Successful graduates of the
University obtain the degree of Bachelor of Sciences, Engineer, Master of
Siences, Doctor of Siences, including degrees which meet international
standards.
